FAQs

General Information

1. What services do you offer?
At Kitty Yarns, we offer a variety of cat sitting services tailored to your feline friend’s needs. Choose from single visits (30 minutes or 1 hour), two visits a day (30 minutes or 1 hour each), and three visits a day (30 minutes or 1 hour each). However, we don’t strictly watch the clock—if your cat needs a little extra time and care, I’m happy to provide that occasionally at no extra cost. At the same time, if your cat prefers some quiet time alone, I make sure to respect that as well.

2. How do I book your services?

Booking is easy! Just reach out through the booking form or via email, and we'll chat about your cat's unique needs before scheduling your visits.

3. Do you offer discounts for longer bookings?
Absolutely! Enjoy a 10% discount on bookings longer than 7 days, starting from the 8th day. It’s my way of saying thank you for your trust!

4. Are you insured and DBS checked?
Yes I'm fully insured and DBS checked, so you can have peace of mind knowing your kitty is in safe hands.

Health and Safety

5. What if my cat requires medication?
I’m here to help! I can administer medications according to your specific instructions and consent. Just let me know the details during the booking process.

6. Can you administer injections?
Unfortunately, I’m not able to give injections. However, I can assist with oral medications as needed.

7. What happens in case of an emergency or if my cat becomes unwell?
In the rare event of an emergency, I will contact you and your designated emergency contact immediately. If your cat becomes unwell, I will also reach out to your usual vet or the nearest available vet for assistance. If necessary I will cover the vet bills upfront and kindly request reimbursement as soon as possible upon your return. Rest assured, there’s no extra charge for the time I spend taking your cat to the vet.

8What happens if there are issues with the keys, locks, or alarms?
If there are problems with the keys or locks, I will first attempt to contact the keyholder. My primary concern is your cat’s welfare, so if there’s no other solution, I will call a locksmith. For alarm issues, I will reach out to an alarm engineer if needed and wait for their arrival, as I aim to avoid leaving an alarmed property unsecured. It’s crucial to inform me of any changes to alarm codes before each booking to address any issues that may arise. Please note that any charges incurred by third parties to resolve these problems will be the client’s responsibility.

Cancellations and Changes

9. How can I cancel or change my booking?
You can easily cancel via email or phone. Just a reminder: please check our cancellation policy for details.

Travel and Logistics

10. How far do you travel for cat sitting services?
I cover all of Hertfordshire and surrounding areas. A small mileage surcharge will apply for distances beyond an 8-mile radius from Hemel Hempstead.

11. Do you provide services for multiple cats?
Yes, I provide sitting for multiple cats at no extra cost. Just let me know how many cats you have, and we can discuss the best plan for their care.

Pet Care Essentials

12. What should I provide for my cat during visits?
Please ensure you have enough food, water, and any necessary supplies (like litter and toys) before you go away. It’s also helpful to provide a spoon for serving food and a sponge for cleaning their food bowl. Additionally, please have some cleaning supplies on hand for any accidents, so I can keep your cat’s space and your home tidy.

If you run out of any supplies while I’m caring for your cat, I’m happy to purchase them for you. Please note there will be a £10 charge for this plus the cost of the supplies , which will need to be covered upon your return.

13. Can my pet stay with you?
At this time, I’m unable to offer boarding services. However, by choosing cat sitting, your pet receives my full attention and care without the stress of a new environment.

Forms and Documentation

14. Do I need to fill out any forms?
Yes, I’ll send you the necessary forms to complete beforehand. They need to be returned before any paid services begin.
